The merriest math day ever began with the challenge of Do You Think What I Think.  In this challenge, students were required to use their mental math skills to solve problems.  Adam Chaney was the Casar Number Nutcracker's high scorer.

The remainder of the day was devoted to the team competition where the coach, Rhonda Cook, escorted students to four other tasks where they worked together to solve a variety of tasks. The tasks included:

Task 1: We Are Santa’s Elves - students designed, constructed, and solved problems dealing with area, perimeter, and volume.

Task 2: It’s Beginning to Look  A Lot Like Christmas - students applied and extended their understanding of place value systems.

Task 3: Rudolph and His Friends - students solved real-world problems involving fractions using all four operations.

Task 4: 12 Days of Christmas - students solved and wrote numerical expressions using their understanding of the order of operations.

A wonderful time was had by all.
