The school looks on as the team takes a victory lap.

Elementary readers converged at CCS Central Services to determine the best-of-the-best readers in the county. Eager to exhibit their knowledge, the students answered in-depth reading comprehension questions from the designated book list. The second day of Elementary Battle of the Books unveiled a new group of talented readers who came together at CCS Central Services to put their knowledge to the test.

Team results from Day 2 are as follows:

~ 1st Place: Casar Elementary
~ 2nd Place: Boiling Springs Elementary
~ 3rd Place: Springmore Elementary

This year, a special award named in honor of Dr. Ruth Pace was given to an individual from each team – selected by peers – to the team member most knowledgeable about all of the books.

The 2018 Dr. Ruth Pace Award Winners from Day 2 are:
Samuel Ford of Boiling Springs Elementary
Pablo Garcia of Casar Elementary
Mackenzie Pendleton of Fallston Elementary
Seraphina Shutt of Kings Mountain Intermediate
Damon Cook of Shelby Intermediate
Alex Espinosa Paz of Springmore Elementary
